't Panneland

Feast on delicious pancakes, sandwiches or witch soup

The Land has been one of the favorite spots on the edge of the dunes for years. The location is absolutely unique and the atmosphere special. What could be more delicious than enjoying a glass of Leffe by the fire after a long walk in the Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes, a 3,600-hectare nature reserve.

Manus Mense, born and raised on the edge of the dunes, founded coffee house 't Panneland in 1970. He built it single-handedly and ran his business with heart and soul. Panneland has always remained in the family.

Cafe Restaurant de Ruigenhoek

A real family business

Cafe Restaurant "De Ruigenhoek" was built in about 1903 and was called cafe "Duinzicht" at that time. During the war years, it was occupied by the Germans and completely dilapidated. After the war it served as a junkyard for some time. In 1948 the building became a cafe again, under the leadership of Jan and Bets Geerlings. With the help of their children, they built the business in 40 years to what it is today. In the early years, Jan worked in the bulb fields during the day and Bets ran the cafe.

It was a time when truck drivers, who drove away sand in the water supply dunes to dig the canals, could often be found.
